HollywoodLife has published a story that alleges Kourtney Kardashian is “ruining” Scott Disick’s holidays by “banning” his girlfriend Sofia Richie from the family’s annual Christmas party. And while chances are that Richie will not be at the Kardashians’ event, chances are even greater that the site’s quotations about it are entirely fabricated. In fact, Gossip Cop feels you don’t need to be veteran reporters like us to spot these seemingly fake phrases.
As noted above, the main premise is that Disick feels Kardashian is going to “spoil his holiday fun” because she doesn’t want his teenaged girlfriend at her family’s get-together. OK, now let’s look at the often discredited site’s almost assuredly made-up quotes.
A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Kourtney made it clear to Scott that his girlfriend Sofia is not allowed at any family holiday events. Kourtney has several issues with Scott dating Sofia and does not like it at all. Kourt has banned Sofia from meeting the kids despite how serious things are getting between Sofia and Scott.” You’ll notice all three of those sentences in a row go out of their way to mention the three’s subjects names in each phrase. No one in the real world speaks that way.
But let’s delve in a little more into the article’s first three quotations. You’ll notice that the first sentence is unnecessarily descriptive unless one’s really trying to craft a written phrase that prove one’s point. However, no one would say in natural discourse, “Kourtney made it clear to Scott that his girlfriend Sofia… ” Another glaring indication that HollywoodLies, as it’s known, concocted these sentences is that in second quotes, the supposed “source” refers to Kardashian as “Kourtney,” but then 16 words later, in the third sentence, calls her “Kourt” (below). People who don’t like are consistent in their speech. It would be like someone calling Kardashian’s sister in back-to-back quotes, “Kim” and “Kimmy.”

This same pattern of phonily repeating the first names, without ever using pronouns the way actual people do when talking, continues throughout the made-up article. Among the other examples of the Scott-Kourtney-Sofia construction are the sentences, “Scott wants to spend the holidays with his children AND with his girlfriend, so he is pretty pissed about Kourtney banning Sofia from the holiday season. Scott feels like Kourtney is ruining his holidays with her jealous, petty ban of Sofia.”
Further down in HollywoodLies’ work of fiction, the website brings up Kardashian’s boyfriend Younes Bendjima. The outlet’s beyond suspect “source” allegedly tells the blog, “Scott made it clear to Kourtney that he feels the same way about her boyfriend Younes as she does about Sofia. Scott has argued with Kourtney that if Sofia is not allowed around during Christmas then the same goes for her man Younes.” In case you don’t feel like looking higher back up in our article, let’s compare how these same fake quotes are constructed, “Scott made it clear to Kourtney” and “Kourtney made it clear to Scott.” The source also repeats the line, “Sofia is not allowed” in both phrases (below).

Not only do these quotations appear to be fake, but they’re also not that creative. This is hardly the hundredth time Gossip Cop has caught HollywoodLife making up fake quotations. Sadly, this is a very common practice by that site, which we have called out repeatedly for fabricating articles about a slew of celebrities. So here’s our holiday challenge to HollywoodLies: If you can present this “source” who suspiciously repeats subjects’ names in every sentence, we’ll present a very generous donation to a charity in your name.
